About a month ago I started training Sheila Anderson. When we met she had already lost about 40 pounds, which was a great start. She had begun her weight loss journey at another facility and came to me wanting to build on what she had started there.
Luckily for me she easily adopted the new routine she was introduced to when she came to me. She had built a good foundation for resistance training at her previous facility and was very determined to get it right this time…..this time? Yes, Sheila had tried all of this before. Dieting and losing weight then putting it back on, it’s called the YOYO. She had never tried exercise with her dieting before though, so this time around she gave it a whirl. Sheila found that exercise made her feel better, not only physically, but mentally too. With the right guidance and a willing heart she has made great progress. Since coming on with me Sheila has lost approximately another 10 pounds (sorry if I’m wrong Sheila!).
The reason I tell you this little story about Sheila is she has decided to share her journey with everybody. She started a blog this past weekend which she titled I Choose to Live Stronger. She was a little reluctant to let me share it at first, which is completely understandable, but after a little persuading (I threatened to make her do 100 burpees…..ha, not really, I don’t think I’m that mean) she agreed. I’m happy she did because she will be an inspiration to a lot of people who want to lose weight but just don’t know what avenue to take or are even a little intimidated to talk to somebody about it. I can tell you just from knowing her for the short amount of time that I have she’s inspired me to be a better person because of her attitude and willingness to do what it takes to succeed.
Anyway, I hope I didn’t say anything to embarrass her (sometimes I don’t know when to shut up). Go read her blog and get the rest of her story….and probably a couple of things I got wrong. Check in on her every once a while to see how she’s doing. Visit www.ichoosetolivestronger.com.
